CHANGELOG

Captivo Portal changelog — 2026 · Page 2 of 12

What changed in the guest WiFi portal, release by release, newest first.

1.137.1

Fixes

  • The registration and pricing pages described the free plan as a temporary promotion: the "Beta Period Active" badge, the "free during beta" heading and the "during early access" wording are gone. The free plan is permanent, and nobody signing up should be left thinking it is free for now and uncertain afterwards.

1.137.0

Improvements

  • A tab left open for days now tells you when a new version has been released. Previously such a tab would quietly start half-working — most visibly on pages people leave open, like the live sessions screen. The notice appears and the reload is yours to take; it never reloads on its own, because a half-filled form should not disappear.

1.136.0

Improvements

  • The "Sign in with Captivo" screen now opens in the language you were reading. The identity centre showed its sign-in form in Turkish to everyone, including someone using the panel in English or arriving from Captivo Access.

1.135.2

Fixes

  • On self-hosted installations the two-factor screen opened in the wrong language: an administrator using the panel in English, signing in from the English login page, was shown a Turkish verification screen. It arrived in 1.135.1 and is fixed here.

1.135.1

Fixes

  • The two-factor screen now opens in the language you were reading. Anyone who signed in from the English login page with MFA enabled got a Turkish verification screen. Its strings had been bilingual all along; what was missing was telling the page which language it was in — this screen has a single address, so it cannot read the language from its URL. The login page now records which door was used.
  • The two fallback labels used in a trusted-device name for an unrecognised browser or operating system are translated too; an English reader was shown a Turkish word.

1.135.0

Fixes

  • The "Omada" option is gone from connector settings. There was no adapter behind it: choosing it produced a pairing code, and the connector agent then exited at startup with "unsupported vendor". It returns when TP-Link Omada support is actually written.

1.132.0

New

  • Captivo Access now has its own Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. Access's own documents state plainly that session recordings stay on your server and that their backup is yours.

1.131.0

New

  • A separate Data Processing Agreement (DPA) for Captivo Access is now published in Turkish and English. The existing agreement covered the guest WiFi service only; Access session recordings are a different category of data and needed their own. The agreement states plainly that session recordings are stored on the customer's own server, that Captivo neither receives nor can read that content, that backing it up is the customer's responsibility, and that an erasure request completes when the connector next connects. Reachable from the footer.

1.129.0

Improvements

  • The SEO settings gained fields for the English site tagline and the English meta description.

1.128.1

Improvements

  • Updating a self-hosted installation is now the SAME two commands as installing it: download the package, run the installer. No version to type, no compose file to fetch by hand, no separate pull and prune commands — the installer does all of it. Your `.env.onprem` and your database are untouched.

Fixes

  • The update steps in 1.128.0 were needlessly complicated: they asked you to paste a three-line command that looked up the version and wrote it into .env. That is gone.

1.128.0

Improvements

  • A self-hosted installation now knows which version it is on. Installation records the version the package carries in your `.env.onprem`, and the upgrade steps write the version you are moving to into the same file and print it. It previously said `latest`, which meant you did not choose which version an upgrade moved you to — and there was no easy way back if a release went wrong.
  • The upgrade steps on the on-premise installation page have been updated to match, in both languages. The new step shows and records the version you are moving to; going back is now editing one line and restarting.

1.127.1

Improvements

  • The on-premise pages now say which product they are about: "Captivo Portal On-Premise". Both products have a version that runs on your own server, so plain "Captivo" was ambiguous. Places that mean our cloud ("Captivo cloud") are unchanged.

1.127.0

Improvements

  • Opening a product from your Captivo account page (id.captivo.io/account) no longer asks you to sign in again. The session you already have is used and you land straight in the panel. The same now applies to switching to Captivo Portal from the product switcher, which previously dropped you on a sign-in page.

1.126.3

Fixes

  • When a "Sign in with Captivo" attempt failed on the English sign-in page, you were dropped onto the Turkish one and the explanation came in Turkish. The failure is now shown on the page in the language you were using. This applies to failures only; the normal sign-in flow is unchanged.

1.126.2

Fixes

  • The language switch on the pricing page went to the wrong address: from Turkish it tried /en/fiyatlandirma and from English it tried /pricing, neither of which exists. Both directions are fixed.

1.126.1

Fixes

  • Labels in the captivo.io top menu were wrapping onto a second line (a hyphenated item splitting in two, and the sign-in and sign-up buttons doing the same). Adding the pricing entry left the bar too narrow; labels no longer break, and the bar switches to the drop-down menu on narrower screens.

1.126.0

New

  • A pricing page has been added (captivo.io/en/pricing). What each plan covers, where the free plan stops, and why an on-premise installation sits outside all of it are now in one place. The page states plainly that payments are not open yet, that no card is asked for anywhere, and that every cloud account opened today starts on the free plan. If you need more, we raise your account by hand.

Improvements

  • The free-usage section on the home page and the footer now lead to the real pricing page; they previously jumped to a section inside the home page.

1.125.1

Fixes

  • The free-usage section on captivo.io said "unlimited locations" and "no limits", while the free plan covers a single location. The copy has been corrected in both languages, and the sign-up page now states the scope plainly. There genuinely is no ceiling on guest numbers — that claim was accurate and stays.

1.125.0

New

  • You can now see your plan allowance before you run into it. The RADIUS settings page shows how many NAS devices your plan covers and how many are in use; the Active Sessions page shows how many guests it covers at once. Previously the NAS allowance could only be discovered by trying to add a second device and getting an error.

Improvements

  • When you are above the concurrent-guest allowance, the line says plainly that no guest has been blocked — that allowance is information, not a gate.
  • If you have more NAS devices than your plan covers, the page says plainly that the ones you already have keep working. The allowance applies only when adding a new device; nothing existing is touched.

1.124.2

Fixes

  • The free plan showed an allowance of "0" for local users, voucher batches and sponsors, although none of those are limited and never were. All three now read as unlimited — the free plan's limit is not a count but a scope: one location and 20 guests at the same time.

1.124.1

Improvements

  • When your plan changes, both products now learn of it at the same time. A plan change previously stayed on the Captivo Portal side, so Captivo Access could still treat you as being on your old plan.

1.124.0

New

  • The free plan is now explicit: one location (1 NAS device) and 20 guests online at the same time. There is no ceiling on guest or SMS counts — you send SMS through your own provider account, so a busy day does not run you into a limit. This applies to cloud (SaaS) installations only; a self-hosted installation has no plan, only whatever your licence covers.
  • The plan badge in the top bar now shows your actual plan. It previously read "Pro Plan" on every account, which was misleading given it is the only place your plan is shown.
  • When more guests are connected at once than your plan covers, the dashboard tells you — how many are connected, and that nothing has been blocked. We do not turn your guests away.

Improvements

  • Adding a NAS device beyond what your plan covers now gives a clear message. Devices you already have stay exactly as they are — you simply cannot add another.
  • Registering with Captivo opens both a Captivo Portal and a Captivo Access account on the free plan, whichever product's sign-up form you came through. Someone registering via Access previously did not receive Portal.
  • Plan tiers in Captivo Access now carry the same names as Portal (Free / Pro / Enterprise). Access called its middle tier "standard", so an organisation using both products saw two vocabularies for the same thing.

Fixes

  • Some accounts showed their subscription as "expired", although the free plan has no paid period that can run out. A free plan never lapses; affected accounts have been corrected.
  • An account with no plan information on file is now treated as being on the free plan. That state used to read as "unlimited", so accounts could see different things about their own plan.

1.123.11

Improvements

  • During first-run setup the dashboard no longer says the same thing twice. While the setup checklist is on screen, the alerts it already covers (SMS, RADIUS, NAS) and the separate two-factor box are hidden; they return once the checklist is finished or dismissed. A new installation now faces noticeably fewer prompts.

Fixes

  • The SMS alert told installations that do not use SMS something untrue. If guest sign-in runs on vouchers, e-mail, local users or a hotel system (PMS), the checklist said "authentication done" while the alert insisted "SMS not configured". It now appears only when SMS is configured and switched off — which genuinely needs fixing, because guests cannot receive a code.

1.123.10

Improvements

  • Your Captivo account page is now reachable from the console. A "My Captivo account" link sits under your name in the bottom left; it shows your organisation and what you hold in each Captivo product. The page had existed for a while with nothing linking to it, so anyone who did not know the address could not find it.

1.123.9

Fixes

  • Moving to the other product with the switcher now updates your preference too. Only signing in used to count: you could switch to Captivo Portal and work there, and your next sign-in would still land you in Captivo Access. Using the switcher says "I want to be here now" just as clearly, and it is now treated that way.
