Which firewalls does Captivo work with?
Captivo integrates with pfSense, OPNsense, MikroTik, FortiGate, Cisco Meraki, UniFi and Ruijie. The integration method depends on the hardware: most connect over RADIUS, while UniFi connects through the Captivo Connector. You can download your branded portal as a ready-to-use template and upload it to your captive portal, or use the live portal directly.
Do guests need to install an app to connect?
No. When a guest joins the WiFi network, the welcome portal opens automatically. They enter their phone number, verify the SMS code and get online. No app download required.
How is legal compliance handled?
Captivo does not store traffic logs — those stay on your firewall. It ties every connection to an SMS-verified identity (username = phone number) that appears in your pfSense/OPNsense traffic logs, so you can tell who made any access, which is the core of the requirement. Captivo keeps time-stamped guest records; device identifiers are encrypted and automatically deleted at the end of the retention period, and exportable audit reports are provided.
